Early Life and Education

Elizabeth Lynne Cheney was born on July 28, 1966, in Madison, Wisconsin. She is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and Lynne Cheney, a former National Endowment for the Humanities Chairwoman.

Cheney graduated from Cornell University in 1988 with a degree in international studies. She then earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1996.

Political Career

Cheney began her political career as a staff member for the Senate Republican Policy Committee. She later served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs under President George W. Bush.

In 2016, Cheney was elected to the House of Representatives from Wyoming, succeeding her father in the seat. She served on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Intelligence Committee.

Role in the January 6 Investigation

Cheney played a prominent role in the January 6 Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol. She was one of two Republicans appointed to the committee by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Cheney's leadership on the committee earned her praise from both Democrats and Republicans. She was commended for her integrity and commitment to uncovering the truth about the events of January 6.

Memoir

In 2023, Cheney published a memoir titled "For the Love of Country." In the book, she details her experiences in government and her decision to break with former President Donald Trump following the January 6 attack.

The memoir received positive reviews from critics and was praised for its candor and honesty.
